About the Uptown Shelby Association
The Uptown Shelby Association is an award-winning 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was incorporated in 1982 as one of the first thirty Main Street® programs in the country. For nearly 40 years, we have worked to revitalize the Uptown Shelby district. We are an accredited member of the National Main Street Center and an active participant in the NC Main Street Program within the NC Dept of Commerce. We work to facilitate collaboration & growth, enrich the Uptown experience, and promote the district in order to strengthen Uptown Shelby and enhance our community's quality of life and civic pride. Our work includes business development, marketing, placemaking, community partnerships, events, and historic preservation.
We are governed by a Board of Directors, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. Normally, we meet at our offices, 211 South Trade Street, and Uptown Shelby business and property owners and members of the public are welcome to attend. However, during COVID-19 we are conducting meetings virtually.
The Uptown Shelby Association staff, its board of directors, host of volunteer supporters, and community partners work together to promote economic development and historic preservation in Uptown Shelby, and to produce events that attract business, shopping and dining.
Office hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but our office is currently closed to the public due to COVID-19. We invite you to contact us about available properties, upcoming events, sponsorship, or volunteer opportunities at 704-484-3100 or info (at) uptownshelby.com.
